CBBVO is registered on 21 August 2025 a non-profit community based NGO founded by the group of volunteers chaired by Von Syden (Tiger), the English Teacher and professional tour guide in Siem Reap, Angkor Cambodia in 2009. This organization develops and manages projects directed towards helping the poor Cambodian community villages. We aim to offer poor, disadvantaged, and vulnerable children, young, and families, the chance for a decent life and hope for a better future. Giving hope into life through education. In many rural areas of Cambodia, access to education is limited or nonexistent. Families struggling with poverty often cannot afford school fees, supplies, or transport, leaving children with no path toward personal or economic growth. At the Cambodian Bamboo School Project, we believe education is the key to long-term change—not just for individuals, but for entire communities.
We focus on building and operating schools that provide free education in English and other essential subjects. By equipping students with these skills, we aim to open doors to employment opportunities in Cambodia’s growing job markets, especially in tourism, hospitality, and international business sectors, where English proficiency is a major advantage.
Our work is deeply rooted in the belief that Cambodian solutions should be led by Cambodians. Every step of our project—from planning to construction to teaching—is guided by local knowledge, cultural understanding, and long-term commitment to our communities.

When I was young. I was called a buffalo boy. My full name is Von Syden. Von is my family name. Some people called me Tiger Wood, because I look like him. I am an English Teacher and Tour Guide. I was born at ricefield in 1978 of farmer family during the Khmer Rouge genocide in Siem Reap in the north-west of Cambodia. My hometown is at rural village west of Siem Reap city and close to some ancient temples. I grew up as a typical rural boy with a love of the countryside and also a passion for people who are interested in my country. During the war, my village was a battle field between the Khmer Rouge and the government. I was abducted and forced to join the Khmer Rouge when I was about 14 years old, then after i was escapted to Buddhist Temple for safe,then i had opportunity to became a monk for several years.
Over the past 20 years, I sold my buffalo, Then, I have studied to be a cultural and historical tourist-guide. I also have specialized in the mysterious history of the temples. I have been involved in the tourism industry in Cambodia since 1999, and I have successfully hard worked for charity project to help poor children in the past 10 years for free of their education. Through my studies and experiences I have gained a good understanding of English, and can speak it quite well. The most important point is my knowledge and experiences of the ancient temples of Angkor, organizing volunteering tours in Siem Reap and Cambodia and the love of my country to go straith poor community villages. Then I have met advisors and valued guets such as Mr. Peter Heyes ( Canada), Mr Bruce Carr & Mrs Andrea Carr (UK), Mr.Duncan T Pham JD, Mrs. Katie H Truong, Mr Derek, Diem’s Family ( USA), Mr. Reed Mankin(USA), Mr Charles Gauci and Family (Australia) of Foundation Cambodia in 2023 to began to work for charity project. Together, we worked hard for poor children in some villages of Cambodia in order to receive good education for their dream to get a great lives such as my dream and hope when i was a buffalo boy.
